Hi, I’m Bill aka The RockChap. For thirteen years I served in the United States Navy—ironically, without ever setting foot on a ship. Instead, my mission took place in the sky as an Aviation Anti‑Submarine Warfare Operator aboard the P‑3C Orion. I spent my career tracking submarines from above, a job that demanded precision, teamwork, and nerves of steel. My time in uniform came to an unexpected end after an accident, but the values the Navy instilled in me never left.
After transitioning out of military service, I pursued both undergraduate and graduate degrees, eventually finding a deeply meaningful calling as the chaplain for my local fire department. Supporting first responders through some of their hardest moments remains one of the most fulfilling roles of my life.
Radio found me in 2000. What began as a simple volunteer application turned into an overnight DJ position before I even finished my first sentence with the station manager. From there, I worked my way up to program director, discovering a passion for connecting with listeners. After the pandemic, I hit the road in my RV and later joined a veteran‑focused streaming station as their morning host, bringing my experience as a disabled veteran to the mic for three years.
Today, I’m thrilled to share my radio show with your listeners, every weekday. And if you’re wondering about the name—RockChap is short for Rock‑n‑roll Chaplain, a nod to both my ministry and my love of music.
