Country Risers Ashley Anne and Eli Winders Captures the Cracks In A Picture-Perfect Love with “Fence”

Emerging country risers Ashley Anne and Eli Winders have released their new duet “Fence,” available everywhere today. The emotional track brings two rising voices together to tell the story of a relationship that appears perfect on the outside but is quietly unraveling behind closed doors.

“'Fence' is a song that explores the not-so-perfect secrets behind a relationship that looks perfect,” Ashley shares. “Some couples tend to cover up the truth behind a beautiful Southern Living-looking home and a white fence wrapped around it. The song explores what goes on behind closed doors—or behind the white picket fence, to be exact.”

Written by Ashley Anne, Eli Winders, Aaron Armstrong, and Ryan Kohn, "Fence” came to life in a Nashville writing room earlier this year. Ashley had been sitting on the concept since she and Eli first crossed paths at a writers' round over a year and a half ago.

“Eli and I became good friends after that round, and this idea had been living in my head for a while,” she says. “When we finally got in a room with Aaron and Ryan, it just clicked. The story felt real and honest, and naturally, it turned into a duet.”

The pair's chemistry, both lyrically and vocally, adds depth to the emotionally layered track. “Fence” captures the quiet ache of staying in something comfortable, even when the love has faded. With lines like “we throw a coat of paint on a fence that we just can't mend,” the song pulls back the curtain on a life built more on routine than connection.

“I met Ashley two years ago at a writers round and was blown away by her voice and her songwriting,” Eli recalls. “When she brought the idea for 'Fence' into the room, I knew right away it was something special. I'm proud to be a part of it and excited it's finally out in the world.”

At just 21, Ashley Anne has quickly made a name for herself with honest, introspective songwriting that resonates far beyond her years. Viral tracks like “dear dolly” and “she ain't texas” have struck a chord with listeners, while her latest single, “plenty of fish,” continues her thoughtful exploration of love, loss, and self-worth. Eli Winders, known for his timeless country warmth and emotional delivery, brings a grounded perspective shaped by traditional influences and modern storytelling, making him one of the genre's most promising new voices.

Together, the two join forces on “Fence,” an intimate yet universally relatable song for anyone who's ever questioned whether love alone is enough to hold something together.
