Award-winning Texas/Americana artist Bri Bagwell releases her sultry new single “Show Me” out today, September 26th. Written solely by Bagwell, the song is a more soulful sound featuring organ/keyboard as the driving instruments, Bri’s vocals front and center, horns, and stacked background vocals. Fresh off a debut performance at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville at the legendary Station Inn, Bagwell has seen audiences react to the song in real time across her stacked fall tour.
An unlikely source of inspiration, “Show Me” was written by Bagwell as part of her Texas songwriting group that challenges and encourages a tightknit group of members to write and share a new song every two weeks. The prompt was to use the word “sweater” in a lyric - which Bagwell eloquently captures in verse 2: “I just can’t get it together/We’ve been apart for too long/I wear lonely like a sweater...”
On writing the song, Bagwell shares, “‘Show Me’ is unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s a really soulful left turn for me and a reflection of where I am in my life right now. The content is a little bit more…what’s the word here…mature? At the stage of life that I’m in, a lot of my friends are talking about ‘love languages’ and identifying what works and what doesn’t in their relationships, as I am doing myself. It’s really interesting to put the concept of physical touch into a song.”
With tasteful production from Rachel Loy, recorded at the Smoakstack in Nashville, TN, the track features heavy hitters including Billy Justineau on keyboards (Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne, Lainey Wilson), Rachel Loy on bass and harmonies (Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Wendy Moten), Paul Eason of The Wilder Blue on acoustic guitar, Sam Hunter on lead guitar (Elton John, George Strait, Charlie Worsham), Fred Eltringham on drums (Sheryl Crow, The Chicks, Kacey Musgraves), and Carlos Sosa on horns (John Mayer, Marcus King, Maroon 5).
Dubbed by fans as “the sexy song” Bagwell will be performing the new single across the country with upcoming dates in NE, SD, MN, WI, IL, TX, CO and FL. She continues to host her hilarious chart-topping podcast Only Vans, distributed via The Bluegrass Situation, with recent episodes interviewing country artist Rick Trevino, singer/songwriter Adam Hood, and MusicFest’s John Dickson.
