Stoke-on-Trent’s rising nu-grunge heavyweights Black Coast are back with a crushing new single, “Without You,” out April 30th. Known for blending elements of hardcore, old-school grunge and nu-metal into a sound that’s both raw and melodic, the band continues to push boundaries in the UK heavy scene.
The track emerged organically during pre-production sessions with long-time collaborator Sam Bloor at Lower Lane Studios. Guitarist Scott had been sitting on the main riff for months before locking in with Sam to shape the skeleton of the track. “By the time we got to the studio,” the band shares, “a big portion of it was already written. Joe added the breakdown, Chaz came in with the lyrics, and the rest is history.”
Vocalist Charlie Hewitt describes Black Coast’s music as a vehicle for breaking down emotional walls:
“It can be a struggle not to just introvert yourself so much that you let no one in at all. This music is about trying to break down those self-imposed barriers.”
“Without You” follows the success of the band’s self-titled EP, released in 2023 to acclaim, which RockSound magazine dubbed “their best body of work.” The EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by Sam Bloor and mastered by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering.
Live, Black Coast have proven themselves one of the UK’s most visceral acts, having recently delivered a knockout set at Takedown Festival, alongside past appearances at Burn It Down Festival, Collision Fest, and support slots with Death Remains and Deathharts.
Black Coast continue to evolve their sound while staying rooted in the fierce DIY energy of their Stoke beginnings. With “Without You,” they invite fans deeper into their world—where haunting vocals, jagged riffs, and emotional catharsis collide.
