Australia's genre-bending WINDWAKER — vocalist Liam Guinane, guitarist Justin Keurntjes, bassist Indey Salvestro, drummer Chris Lalic, and synths/samples specialist Connor Robins — released HYPERVIOLENCE last summer via Fearless Records. The band also crashed domestic shores for its first-ever U.S. tour last year, supporting Northlane. It was truly a smashing success where Windwaker won the audience over each and every night! The band followed the album with HYPERVIOLENCE EXPANSION PACK deluxe record earlier this year, which included three new tracks, plus other surprises.
Today, the band post a major "W" on the leaderboard with the video for the brand new song "Victory Lap."
"It's a loud, attitude-drenched anthem that delivers a message: A rejection of the naysayers, the gatekeepers, and anyone who's ever tried to box them in," the band states.
The song boasts a confident (but never cocky) swagger and heaps of attitude. It offers up grooves for days and listeners are treated to a storm of glitchy guitars, bloodthirsty screams, and boisterous beats but it's not all fists and fury. Those hooky choruses and the hip-hop-inspired vocal cadence will have you nodding your head involuntarily. It's a thrilling collision of sounds and styles and of genres and generations.
Produced by drummer and in-house engineer Lalic and mastered by Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Stand Atlantic, Bad Omens), the track arrives with a blockbuster music video. Guinane spits lines mid-flight while hanging out the side of a helicopter, while on the ground the band make a gloriously over-the-top entrance atop a decked-out troop carrier, soundtracking their own mania with the new single. Masked figures swell their ranks, forming an intimidating posse rallying behind Windwaker for the clip.
